Dinner of three lands is an innovative touristic product, joining a gastronomy offer of three neighbouring countries (Slovenia, Italy and Austria) in one dinner within a guided tour from Kranjska Gora. One of destination's main advantages is its location at Italian and Austrian border, offering a diversity of three countries, cultures, linguistic groups and history. Therefore a hotel company Hit Alpinea decided for a new product, following a gastronomy route from Kranjska Gora in Slovenia, to Tarvisio in Italy and Arnoldstein in Austria.
Besides gastronomy this guided tour offers enjoying the natural surroundings and many new information about a history of the region and development of tourism. Its tradition is quite long as tourism begun with opening the railway connection between Ljubljana and Tarvisio in 1870. Tourist society Kranjska Gora was founded in 1904. After a summer climate tourism first developed, it was followed by beginning of winter tourism after World War I. Kranjska Gora today is a modern alpine destination with two main seasons.
Main cultural attraction of the region is a pilgrom church Monte Lussari located on top the same named mountain on 1.766 m above sea level. It has been visited already in the 16th century. Arnoldstein in Austria is mostly known for its ski resort (called Three Countries Border).
The product presents gastronomy specifics of three countries, based on local cuisine and also influences from wider region. The dinner consists of home made pasta in Italy, local beef or fish in Austria (restaurant owners are hunters!) and traditional slovenian dessert 'potica' (prepared ni a modern way) in Slovenia.
One dinner in three countries - within an interesting guided gastronomy journey!
