The World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) in collaboration with Globalia publishes the 1st UNWTO Tourism Startup Competition, the world's largest initiative to identify start-ups that will lead to the transformation of the tourism sector.
We are in the midst of the fourth industrial revolution, where tourism has to take advantage of state-of-the-art technology that is developing at an exponential rate to create new business opportunities and ensure the competitiveness, growth and sustainable development of the sector. In this context, the 1st International UNWTO Tourism Contest is dedicated to projects that change the way people travel and experience tourism.
As part of this call, 20 of the most successful competitors will receive sponsorship to present their idea to the jury of leading tourism experts on 27 September this year at the official World Tourism Day in Budapest, Hungary, including top global investors. The jury will then select ten finalists who will be invited to the FITUR 2019 competition (the Spanish International Tourism Fair to be held in Madrid on 23-29 January 2019) for the final prize to form a pilot project with Globalia.
