Since 2011 Ljubljana Tourism has successfully coordinated the development and promotion of tourism in the Central Slovenia region, which connects 25 surrounding municipalities. We have put our greatest emphasis on the development of tourism products, to build up the recognition of the region.
One of the most successful promotional campaigns was last year's Instagram campaign #CentralSlovenia, to encourage both domestic and foreign visitors to have interest in the broader Central Slovenia region and invite them to discover it. The purpose of the campaign was to pursue Ljubljana's strategic efforts to direct guests from the city centre to lesser known and busy points, both in Ljubljana as well as the entire Central Slovenia region.
The campaign was divided into two stages, first was titled Postcards from Central Slovenia, and the second, Central Slovenia treasure hunt. The main goal of both was to promote and strengthen the recognition of Central Slovenia through photographs, which play an increasingly important role in tourism. At the time of the campaign, the main goal was to acquire new ambassadors who will recognize the photographic potential of Central Slovenia. With the second stage of the campaign, we invited all Instagram users to publish their photos from their trips to Central Slovenia (we enlisted the tips for the various trips at our official website) and the participants were rewarded with local gifts.
