Satureja – the Karst wildling and seven Slovenian chefs
15 recipes, 15 gastronomic experiences, 15 culinary postcards
The goal of the project is to develop and position on the national market a new gastronomic tourist product that, for the first time, brings to the fore the Karst savory (Lat. Satureja montana) as an autochthonous Slovenian herb at the national level and incorporates it in first class gastronomy. In the company of the Karst wildling Satureja, 7 TOP chefs from all the Slovenian tourist macro-regions will develop 15 new recipes, 15 culinary experiences with Karst savory. The recipes will be made available as culinary postcards to all domestic and foreign tourists who visit the locations where the chefs and Satureja create together. The postcards, featuring a recipe and a photo of the dish, will also serve as personal visiting cards, as they will be signed by the respective chef and Satureja. Culinary travellers can send the postcards by mail or keep them as a souvenir of the time spent discovering the pristine flavours of Slovenia. They will also have the opportunity to take home a ‘snippet’ of the Karst i.e. its essence. This carefully designed gift is a sachet containing enough of the Karst herb for one culinary experience. It is especially created for those who love to prepare a dish back home that tastes just as authentic as chef-made dishes or to recreate the spirit of the homestead where Satureja reveals to visitors the secrets of using Karst savory in cuisine and phytotherapy as well as presents the Karst as a ‘boutique’ of European biodiversity.
